Sounds a Nice Camera and Specification for the Money,
But I have never used them to Comment properly.
You may require a Longer Telephoto Lens for the Distance shots you mentioned Les, for the type of Picture required
but it does have Image stabilisation which should help at that maximum length..
Only Personal comments, have a Try of one first for Balance in your hands etc if you can
and await other members advice too.

Olympus E410 is what I use. I find it an excelent camera. Availability of lenses isn't as good as nikon & canon but they are becoming more available in recent months. I think it was the smallest DLSR in the world untill the E420 came alone with it's pancake lens. List of lenses here

Any ideas folks
100m is quite a distance Les, especially indoors. You'll need a pretty long lens to fill the frame with (say) 2 karate opponents. Long zooms, unless they're expensive pro ones, are slower aperture-wise than wide zooms, so you're in a tricky spot already.

How much do you want to spend? (The best low, light fast shooting camera around at the moment is the Nikon D3 - it's top notch but it ain't exactly cheap).

After thinking about it 100m is an over estimate, more like 100ft at the most really

Ah, that's a bit easier - still quite a way though.

If you want to spend several hundred, you could go for one of the less expensive Nikons - with this lens: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-18-200...8002988&sr=1-1

Or for £225-ish, the Fuji S9600 with its 28-300 fixed zoom is good - although the focussing system is not quick enough for fast-moving subjects.

The answer is to get a lot closer if you can - then the choice of cameras/lenses becomes much bigger. See here for a decent selection of Nikons & Canons: http://www.warehouseexpress.com/home...back_0308.html

(Don't go for the Sony! - they make the best High Def TV cameras in the world but they should leave stills cameras to the big boys - Nikon & Canon).

Thanks Simon ,

Just bought the Fuji S9600, thought I had better start there, learn a bit then move on to a DSLR.

Next challenge, anyone got or know where I can get a cheap 4GB xD memory card? I noticed the camera also does video recording, how long would it record on a 1GB card?

I've only seen 2GB XD Cards Les generally available in UK.
This place has 2GB ones Cheap.

http://www.memorybits.co.uk/categori...ds&kw=xd+cards

If 2GB is enough send me a PM.

Video is approx 68mins per GB.

The Largest size XD Card your Camera Recognises is 2GB according to Fuji Site.
