Default Coals to Newcastle.

Could,nt believe my eyes this morning after reading that a new building is being constructed in Aberdeen.

Now Aberdeen is called the Granite City and anyone who has ever visited there will know why.

The new building will be made of Granite and guess where its coming from.

Yep you guessed it CHINA.

Yep sure can believe it. Nice new paving area done up in Huddersfield, home of good old Yorkshire Stone, covered in Chinese Granite.
Very patriotic.

WOW! That's insane. My brother did a extension & roof job last year for someone & the people there said to buy China slate instead of Welsh, He said it was so thin you could hear it cracking underfoot whilst he was walking on it.

It's a bit like selling snow to Eskimos ........although Great Britain PLC seem to be gullible enough to fall for such a thing

I have no problem believing that perhaps the Chinese can quarry and process the granite cheaper than we can, but the bit I don't understand is why they are able to ship it half way round the world, and still be cheaper. You try shipping a 2kg parcel to Aberdeen, and you will be hit with a huge surcharge because it appears that Aberdeen has recently been moved into the Highlands???
And remember that surcharge will apply even if you live in Aberdeen.
