But to be honest I don't see a difference in replacing 4 or 5 tyres, and replacing a clutch. Both are expensive.

Would be very useful. It would need to be split into 2 groups for those who use own garages and those who do own servicing / repairs.
But within each of these it would be good to have sub groups for V6s, 1.8s and diesels.

Might be a lot of work though.

I tend to take a fairly phiosophical view to things like clutches, brake rotors etc. as well. After all, the rate that they wear depends on individual driving style and, as I would assume there aren't many on here who have owned the car from new, (go on, prove me wrong) then I think you have to accept it's something you need to factor in to your running costs, as the previous owner might have slipped the clutch all day, or just sat on motorways in 5th gear, it's a gamble.
I bought mine brand new out of the showroom

Just to be awkward, what happens if you do some yourself and others at the garage?

lol, another point though is it ignores the "How you drive" factor too. Some people will drive really carefully and some will be foot heavy, some brake earlier than others etc etc so technically taking into consdiration all the factors it would not be, as mentioned earlier 100%. I like to slow down nice and early, some will yank on the brakes later, so my Pads last longer and only need replacing once every 2 years, while Tom, **** or Harry brake later and harder, causing quicker wear to Brakes etc Some people have the very bad habit of riding the clutch, others dont, ride teh clutch, it wears out earlier. I know teh op wasnt asking about wear and tear, but to be honest this is a factor that you would really need to take into consideration to give a better "cost" factor per Car class.
