Default Damaged wing mirror

Hello folks.
How difficult is it to replace a damaged wing mirror unit from the door frame outwards.
I managed to push mine forwards today which snapped it clean off, save for the wiring which held it suspended in the air. I couldn't drive like this, so removed the colour coded section and the glass, disconnected the wires and was able to take the entire assembly off. All thats left now is the wiring and support which attaches it to the door frame.

I needto buy a new support section, the bit which holds it to the door frame, but howdo you remove the old one? Is it an interior door card removal job?

Mark

Mark,

I know some people have removed it (either three screws or a mixture of screws / nuts) without removing the door trim panel but as the trim panel is so simple to remove I'd always and indeed DO always remove it to make access much more simple and less likely to cause collateral damage

These can be repaired cheaply if you don't want to spend money and it will look cosmetically as new, do a search for mirror repair I've made a post with pics and all the parts you'll need. I'd check for you but using my mobile right now.

I have a couple of bullets to put on The Boss however I have been putting it off as the door cards have to come off, is it that easy to take them off Raistlin?...Just worried I may do some damage.

Cheers
Tony

no need to remove the door card...remove the single crosshead screw in the air vent, pull the top sill of the door card back one clip, remove the tweeter and remove the trim over the top of the window.

you should see the three retaining bolts/screws.

they are easy enough to remove however i always find i break a few clips trying to put it back on so if you are going to take them off i would recommend a few spares..

As Pab says, no need to remove the cards, it's a simple job following the method he's detailed.

As listed in the for sale section, I have a spare set of bullets with chrome covers in first class condition and perfect working order, should anyone want to "upgrade".
