I dont know if this helps, but on some cars
(I know my Mercedes had it) if you pull out the ash tray
on the underside is a date stamped.
This is the date the car left the assembly line

Very unlikely. It is way more likely to be the date the ashtray left the ashtray makers production line.

The 75 has date codes like this all over it. They can be misleading as the parts could have been made months earlier, or in some cases even years. Date codes on fascias for example are more likely to be realistic as they aren't batch made.
