Default Inadequate Teachers let down pupils (Ofsted)

Weak teachers can put children off learning and are to hard to sack,
the Chief inspector of schools has warned.

Christine Gilbert, head of the office for Standards in Education (Ofsted),
told the Sunday Telegraph, pupils were being let down by Inadequate teachers.
There are far to many of them and with current rules are almost impossible to get rid of.

She said "parents should not have to put up with it"

Oh, ok...the comments are not entirely correct. Most of the poor teachers left long ago, because it is a hard enough job for the good teachers! Also, it is now easier than ever to get rid of 'bad' teachers....however, most 'inadequate' teachers are only in this position due to poor management, poor support and / or poor training....the latter being the biggest issue as too many places that train teachers are pressurised to pass those they should not, due to serious shortages in some subjects.....Happy now Basil?

A Reply from DCSF tonight on BBC news (The Department for Children and Families) said

Shall I alter that to going downhill Rapidly then?

As you say if teachers are being passed to fill shortages that are there in some subjects
and others poorly supported by Management
then this is the Slippery slope Scenario.

How does the Head of Ofsted come to make these statements?
Is it from reviews of the schools or what?

The proverbial will hit the fan in a few years from now imho..
