I had my ZT190 booked in to have the wheels (18" straights) refinished the day that the government shut everything down for the virus. I decided that I would do the wheels myself and save a few hundred dollars. I have refinished alloy wheels before and it isn't my favorite job to do. At least this time I'm not in a hurry.
Today I reached the stage where the first wheel is ready for primer. I am doing the worst wheel first, it had been curbed along 3/4 of it's circumference and it took a lot of sanding using a small cordless with Roloc sanding and scotchbrite discs followed by hand sanding, scotchbrite and good dose of degreaser. Tomorrow it will get it's first coat of primer. Then I will know if I have done a proper prep job!

So today, I cleaned down the residue from a leaking battery, and sprayed the battery holder....
Another job done.

I bought an unloved ZTT SE in Posiedon in 2018 from Gumtree unseen. Got into trouble from my wife as that is now eleven!
Very little has been done since because of illness apart from trying to improve the lacklustre paint by polishing, then tried swirl remover but improved very little. Today I decided to clay a few panels to see what that will do. What a transformation. It looks almost showroom condition and so smooth to the touch. Will order another bar so that I can finish the whole car. Last edited by deltic08; 17th April 2020 at 12:33.. |

Clayed and polished the roof of the ZT, and in disgust with the lack of aesthetic difference, I repeated the process on the front door of my house, which is not Starlight Primertallic, but a rather fetching shade of BLVC 99 Damask Red.
Much shininess of my front door I need some lacquer to top off the stone chip repairs I carried out on the bonnet, then I'll flat it off and machine polish it. Silver, how totally and utterly boring Brian |

Easy one today, fitted Jules plenum guard. Now one thing less to worry about.

Ground out kerbing sanded, scotchbrited, zinc chromate primed raw alloy, primed entire wheel, painted, clearcoated. Phew! Only 3 to go, but this was the worst of the lot so it's nice to have it out of the way. ……………..Primer Coat...………………………….………………….. Colour coat on the rear.......................................……….Don e! (MGF tucked away in the background )

They're looking great Rich, what silver are you using as it looks a relatively dark shade???
