Ok, so, out of interest. What system do you have. You say the cameras use RJ45 connectors or have I got that wrong ?

I do see the root of your problem (I think). You are kind of stuck with the Swann system or rip it out and start again with a more flexible system. Sorting the Swann (if possible) seems the sensible answer. As you say, likely the power pack damaged the unit, also possible that over time the unit took out the power pack or, simply coincidence and one has no bearing whatever on the other.
