So the 9 or 10 seconds gained wouldn't have made any difference to true result by the look of things.
Never new that rule Kandyman, thanks for that. |

Just finding info off the net
In 1995, the Benetton-Renault of Michael Schumacher and the Williams-Renault of David Coulthard were initially disqualified from first and second places in the Brazilian Grand Prix because their fuel did not conform to samples approved by the FIA. But a week later the FIA reinstated the drivers' points but docked the teams their constructors' points. |

So the drivers have been cleared with no Penalty applied.
Now McLaren are to appeal to the FIA. This season has been Plagued by Cheating, Lies, and Politics. |

Its a shame that the politics/ dodgy tactics of the sport always gets in the way but its happened time and again - remember when Damon Hill was taken out by I think Schumaker to prevent him getting any points at the end of a season a few years ago.
I dont think Hamilton stands any chance on appeal as the governing body will be glad that the championship hasnt gone to Mclaren after previous allegations of cheating " serves them right " you can hear them saying. I think Hamilton lost it in the previous race which he failed to finish, a couple of points there and job done but again tyre problems caused that and why did he have 3 stops yesterday when all around him only had 2 ? I really wanted him to be close enough for the team to have told Alonso to drop back and give him the extra points to claim the championship - do you think he would have followed team orders ? Why didnt they ask him to do that anyway as surely one more place would have given Hamilton enough points - he only missed out by 1 and Alonso finished third in the championship anyway ? If you watched the race did you see the Japenese first timer come into the pits and nearly kill one of his crew ? The F1 website is worth a look if you have not seen it before - link below http://www.formula1.com/

This is turning into another farce.
The stewards were unable to make a positive decision of cheating against the drivers, because of differences between the stated ambient temperatures provided by the FIA, and those of the Formula One Management timing monitors. If they can't prove it, then I can't see that McLaren could. Seems like sour grapes to me. Nobody likes a poor loser. McLaren should concentrate their efforts into getting things better for next season, instead of griping about what happened. Let us not forget that, if it had not been for the deal made by Alonso in the spying scandal with the FIA, both McLaren drivers would have had points deducted, and that the team was being considered for total disqualification. Kimi more than deserves his world championship title, he's worked hard for it and it's long overdue. If it hadn't been for the reliability issues that dogged him at McLaren, I'm sure he would have been champion before now. Regards, Russ Last edited by BigRuss; 22nd October 2007 at 09:54.. The FIA have already got what they wanted all along - Ferrari winning the Constructors Championship and a Ferrari driving winning the Drivers title.
There is no way that any action will be taken, especially when doing so would benefit a McLaren driver. |

I am a Ferrari loving fan of F1, and fan of all forms of motorsport, but I cant help but think that should the roles be reversed and Ferrari were the complainant things may have been seen in a different light by the FIA. Ferrari for years have used dubious practices generally without penalty. Take last night Martin Blunder and co never mentioned penalties for swapping ferrari's around, then it was a possibility McLaren may do it the issue was raised.
Before the race Mr Ecclescake openly stated he wanted Ferrari to win. I dont like McLaren but things must be done more even handed if they want to keep the fans.
