I fitted one a few years ago and it's fairly straight forward. Unclip the gear lever surround and then put the gear lever into neutral and pull up with a bit of force and the lever should pull out. You then need to remove the long white rod from the BMW part by inserting a cutlery knife into the side of the release button and carefully prise out to release it. Swap it with the shorter Rover one then refit to the car by banging it into the selector with a firm hit from the heel of your hand . then admire how good it looks

Hi George, I think there is a how to on the site as I’m sure that’s how I found out how to do it , but it was straight forward and when it was fitted , I couldn’t stop sitting in the car to look at it with extra walnut I had fitted to the car .

Yes Pete there is but for the life of me I couldn't find it so thought I'd be quicker asking the members as they like yourself are generally fairly quick to respond thanks again George
