Default Why do they do it?

The brakes on my Connie were well and truly tested yesterday morning. The car slowed remarkably quickly from 60 mph and held the line without any pull to either side. I was well impressed.

I was taking my wife on a shopping trip to the next town, when the BMW ahead of me hit his brakes rather hard and I was forced to do the same. A car came careering round the blind bend on the wrong side of the road, while trying to overtake a line of four or five cars heading north. The car in question didn't appear to try and slow down at all, though the other cars seemed to be slowing down when they saw it. I thought that a head-on was inevitable, but the crazy driver did manage to pull over in front of the first car and speed off up the road.

It was no boy racer, it was a woman in a saloon. What made matters worse, there were children in the car too! What could have caused such reckless behaviour when there were kids in the car?

There have been some bad accidents on this stretch of the road and a few fatalities. Thank goodness that a few heart stopping moments were all that transpired this time.

Jim

It all happened so fast, it was abit of a blur. I just wish I had the dash-cam fitted to this car.

I know the feeling, years ago I had someone overtake me on the M1 I was in the fast lane, overtaking traffic in the middle lane, he was on the central reservation with kids in the back.

Had a near miss a few weeks ago - amazing how it all happens so fast Jim.

Good to hear there wasn't a shunt - perhaps next time she will not be so lucky with depending on other people taking avoiding action.

I have since fitted a dashcam.

How can people with children in the car drive like lunatics? It doesn't bear thinking about.

Indeed Mike, it all seems to happen in a flash. Thankfully all I had to do was bring the car almost to a stop. To have such a quick reaction time and avoid a major accident, is all credit to your driving skills.

This was the second time I've nearly had a head-on collision on this stretch of road in under a month, but seeing children in the other car shocked me more than anything.

Another thumbs-up reason to have a dash cam - I bet that woke you up!

I really must get a dash-cam. Some idiot who looked even older than me
pulled out in front of me from my left yesterday.

Don't think I would have reported him but it would have made a great video to show others

I feel the OP's pain
