Well the ECU is winging it's way north to Brian. Meanwhile silly idiot me left the drivers window down so have taped a bin liner over it for now. I swapped the Bonnet over this afternoon so another little job .................. jobbed. The previous owner bought it of course the breakers just chopped through the erath cable and the washer tube and this was the pollen filter that I removed:-

A little bit passed it's best methinks!

Fitting the replacement bonnet I had to follow the breakers and chop the screeh wash pipe. I will get a spigot joiner and fix that and search out a replacement earth strap and find out where it attaches too in the plenum area.

The new bonnet needs a clean unside and out. Odd though that this CDT did not have a bonnet earth strap?? was this a Project Drive thing?

The old bonnet had these studs both sides ??? anyone know what for?

Rodded the plenum drain:-

It was well blocked I will jet wash them through once I get the hose to it.

Now can anyone spot the Fo-Phah? :-

The seller did say it had new springs fitted in his ownership. .

Forgot to add the photo of her with her new bonnet fitted:-

Looks much better without that huge patch of laquer peeling.

Why was it so bad Brian?

how do you test the ECU's? is it just a test bed that simulates sensor etc?

Ahhh she does not have Cruise fitted so perhaps that is another upgrade I can do at a later date. I admit I do not understand ECU's nor how they work so am just glad there are the likes of Marinabrian to help us out .

It was a tricky fix Tom, oh and my "test rig" has four wheel and can be driven

There can be no substitute for real world post repair testing

It would need to be coded to your car to work properly Kevin, sadly what T4 is referring to in the presence of Cruise control coding present in my own car

Ahhh right ok i understand, i just assumed with coding etc you'd be unable to test in the real world.
Thinking more outloud it makes sense and would be easy to flick between different coding to allow use on your own test car.
I just had a blonde moment really....

need to give you a ring one weekend actually Brian, need someone to retrofit the wiring side of my cruise control to the newly acquired 190 obviously silver will line the pockets and anything else needed will be provided!

Oh well that's not a problem as I said that is something to consider later down the line. There are other things to sort out before other upgrades. Have polished three headlamps just N/S Main Beam one to go.

Have degreased the engine and bay and hosed it all down includign flushing outt eh plenum drains after rodding them the other day to clear them. She will have a few days at least to dry out before power can be connected and the EGR really could do with a clean it is rather coked up as is the boost hose. Not sure if the boost hose has been weeping as there was a lot of oily deposits all over the front and over the lower outside of the boost hose.

The previous owner was not one for cleaning things it seems the fuel filler was disgusting that has also been degreased and washed out. Once she runs I can get her onto the drive and up on ramps and stands to check the brake lines for any corrosion and clean and treat them anyway to protect them. Then check everything else in readyness for an MOT.

This afternoon I gave her a wash that is after I sprayed the engine compartment with Jizer water soluble degreaser:-

A bit more presentable and I won't get as mucky now working on her and there is more to do just look at this EGR valve:-

and boost hose:-

Am thinking this is my next job ............................ cleaning those. Later once finaces recover a bit it may be prudent to replace the boost hose . Also swapped the cupped plate on the top of the N/S/F suspension as it was on upside down:-

The plenum drains are now clean and clear :-

Put the hose on jet and flushed out the inner one as well.
