Default Facebook & Youtube Question...

Can anybody tell me why these 2 sites & many more don't have a Swear filter embedded into them?

So often you see a perfectly innocent topic posted up and some Numpty will reply with Absolute Filth. It's like they've got nothing better to do.

I think the "decency" on this site is to be commended BTW (well 99% of the time anyroad)

It does indeed seem really silly,
more so on Facebook with some of the morons that frequent postings.

They seem to rely on self policing and reports but don't act on complaints from experience.

I'm guessing there's some kind of freedom of speech policy, or something similar at least. I don’t think it would be as popular either with a swear filter. But I do agree it is a total shame some morons ruin these sites. There's a lot of misguided anger too.

A swear filter on a social network site would be huge and prone to causing more problems than solving the original issue; too many culture clashes and all that.

Personally I can't abide the likes of Facebook/MySpace/Faceparty/Twitter/FriendsReunited etc. I see my friends in person, or speak to them on the phone. Technology isn't always the stride forwards some folk make it out to be.

Hi Peter
Myspace I find the best of the bunch and is slowly attracting more & more Musicians, so is becoming more specialised.
