Thanks gentlemen. I have to be careful to order stuff that is very thin so as to avoid gaps between the wood and the plastic door card top. The only other thing I need now is a dremel but then again, maybe I am better avoiding trying to go round the door locks as the buttons already sit very low...

Hopefully the door cappings will be sorted this week. For anyone thinking of this sort of mod you want some of these:

I am not going to try to enclose the door tops, merely embellish them with the wood panels. I hope / think it will work well with the black trim!

Do you plan to "sink" these into the tops of the door card plastic?

We use some double-sided tape at work (coachbuilders) that looks like treacle on a roll and it's only about 1mm thick. We use it for sealing and sticking aluminium panels together. Once they're stuck it's virtually impossible to get them apart with destroying the panels and you have to use heat. Don't know if it'll stick wood to plastic though. I'll find out more if you like Zeb.
Regards, Les. |

The wood arrived today. It is not quite as 'red' as the dash but very similar to the rest of the 'plastic' walnut trim. The only problem now is that the tops of the doors is not flat enough to make a really neat job......so far I have baulked at the idea of taking a Stanley knife to a new car! I may try and get some chrome piping to go around the edge......any suggestions?
