I use a dry cleaning metal hanger. I unfolded the hanger with a pair of pliers for the first time and then just fold it back by hand and put it in the trunk for later use.

flooded Rover
Hi guys. Just to share some of my findings, following the disaster my rover has suffered.
Following some heavy raining here in Portugal, my 75 stopped working. And at the same time I found that the left side floor (both in front and at the back) were completely soaked. I lifted the bonnet and found that the plenum (never knew it was called like that), where the ecu and pollen filter are, was filled with water. I think this where the interior flooding came from. Anyway, after reading this forum I decided to do a litlle investigation and finnaly found the middle drain, under the ECU. I inserted a ruber stick in it to clean and lefted it there to point the precise place the drain is in. I think you can see the precise place from the pictures. If I would have read this forum before, I would have stopped this disaster. Up until now i've taken pretty much one gallon (+ 3 liters) of water from the floor. I'll have to replace all of the car's carpet (as you can see from the pics), plus a pollen filter, an ECU (most likelly, since the car doesn't start) and God know what else!! Can anyone point me a Rover authorized dealer to buy this items? Thanks guys. Andrew |

Try drying the ECU out for a few days in a warm dry area, may save yourself a few pounds

question
Thanks for the tips, guys i'll try just that. I just have two questions:
1. - how can i remove the wipers? I've removed the nut but still the wiper doesn't come out. It's stuck by a metal thing. Without removing them, I just can't work my way around the ECU. 2. - how can i remove the ecu and it's cable? is it possible for me to do it? I would appreciate if anyone could direct me to a post (if it exists) or could explain to me how to perform the above operations. Thanks. |

A Haynes manual can be picked up for £16 on eBay. This has helped me no end alongside this forum of course.

Success!!
Thanks for all the help, guys.
I've removed the ecu, which was wet, and put it to dry during the night. The next day i've reconected the ecu and...success! The car worked perfectly. Now i'm just finishing drying the carpet. Parts of the foam beneat the carpet were damaged, but i guess that's just a minor issue. Now doubt about it, the 75 is trully a great machine. Too bad some of the car's design, like the plenum drainers, are poorly made. But it's one of my favorite cars, anyway. Once again, thanks all of you guys for all of your help No doubt that without this forum I would still be trying to "save" my 75. |
