Unhappy urgent advice please - accident

Hi All

You just couldn't make it up. I am absolutely gutted at the moment.

Went and bought my ZT in BRG this morning. Absolutely pristine condition, with only 15k on the clock.

Got the car home, driving locally, some idiot in a van has driven into the side of me. He pulled out of a side road straight into the side of my car.

I think it needs a new driver's side wing and front bumper, plus there's something wrong with the steering.

So my question is : will it be easy to source a new bumper and wing? I'm with Norwich Union - I'm just about to call them but I'm wary about using authorised repairers.

To a certain extent, it feels like my dream has already faded. I deliberately found a fantastic looking car with no accident damage and it's just spoiled now.

What a nightmare - really sorry to hear that

X Part who provide all the panels and parts have a service for any owner who is told that parts cannot be got. It aims to avoid unnecessary write off's etc. I'll have a hunt and dig out the number to ring, just in case.

ps a quick call to Rimmer Bros on Monday should reassure you on a bumper and wing. They are the place most members get parts from and are very helpful. iirc ask for Gary and tell him you are a club member.

Default Urgent advice please accident

Hi primera man. Sorry to read about this sad incident, the good news is wings and bumpers, lights are all available from Rimmer Bros as far as i know, they are listed in the catalog. Assuming there is no structural damage which might be "hidden" the car should be easily repaired, I don"t know if you can pick a trusted body repairer or whether it will be the insurance company that decide but all being well your car should come back as good as new. I know how you feel by the way its happened to me a good few years ago.

X-Part run a programcalled "Close-Call"

Which is a scheme set up by X-Part to avoid Rover's and MG's being written off due to parts shortages and overpricing pricing.

It all happened to me as well, i stopped to let a left hand drive lorry pass me on a narrow road and could only sit there as it took the whole of my drivers side off like a sardine tin. It was very well repaired by nationwide crash repair i was insured with norwich union too. In fact this happened in 2005 and i had some slight marks on the paint last year and they took it back in and sorted it under warranty(they actually did a bit more than they should all praise to them kept the customer happy tho'-ME)so dont be too cross it will all be ok in the end.

Very unfortunate....but if it is the right car it will be worth fixing...

I had my first ever new, new car (3 weeks old) torched.....It was about £150 off being a write-off....so they rebuilt it.

Find the right panel beater, it will be like new. Check on the repair as it progresses make sure you are happy.
Hope the dork in the truck will be demoted to a scooter delivery person!!!
