picture min/max marks coolant
picture of old expantion tank with the max mark on left and just bellow the min mark,not a lot of room to play with but hope it helps for someone to see the marks rather than guess with the upright fins.

The difference between min & max is so small as to have little practical meaning. What they're basically saying is to ensure the bottom plate in the filler hole is flooded, but not above the fins. Like this (cold engine):
