i had the same problem with both my rear doors not opening,i took the door card off and litterally sprayed the whole mechanism with WD-40 (or white grease) if you have it as it gets dry and it sticks,did that to mine and it's been fine since,spray it on and work the mechanism a few times to work the spray in and it should be fine.

There is no resistance to my external door handle when pulled. Is this still likely to be the nylon block slippage or is the external handle seized when the nylon block problem occurs please?

I cannot check as the car is still at the garage where it failed its MOT but I will go today or tomorrow to discuss the problem.

Same here - and no resistance to the internal handle either
