A bit of an outing for the 75
We have just returned from giving the 75 a bit of a run.
Crossing from Portsmouth to Caen in Normandy, taking mainly the side roads through to the South of France and then into Spain. A day or two here and there all along the south coast of Spain, with a long stay near Marbella before carrying on to Gib and then turning north. Then a relatively hurried return trip via Jerez, Seville and Valladolid before boarding the ferry at Santander for the return to Plymouth. Just under 3,200 miles in all, spread over 6 weeks, with the bulk of the mileage being covered in 17 driving days. Although I had experienced some problems preparing the car beforehand, the 75 behaved impeccably and ran on LPG for the whole distance, I even found enough Autogas in Spain for the first time. The only time we were brought to a standstill on the open road was on the M5, between Taunton and Bristol, in fact this last leg of the journey was the slowest by far. And with the worst food. Still, it's nice to be home now, shivering, with the central heating on and waiting for the (2nd) credit card statement to hit the hall floor. (The first month's has already landed ) |

About 7 yrs ago (how time flies) we did almost exactly the same trip .Cherbourg, Gib ( see daughter )..Bilbao....with our caravan ... Wife was not allowed to fly due to ticker prob... Had difficulty in keeping the speed down to 60/65 on the long straight roads .. Happy days . Have to handle the caravan myself now .

No-one even glanced at ours until it was clean and then it turned a few heads. Neighbour there wanted to buy it last time out, offer still stands even though the steering wheel is on the wrong side. I took him out for a little spin down the Autovia del Mediterraneo and he actually burst out laughing at the growl of the acceleration! He is actually now looking to buy one. Good job we didn't go in the V8. |

I couldn't help thinking during the journey, that I used to regularly drive to and from the apartment that I had in Brno in one hit from here, but that was 35 years ago, I couldn't do it now, even with the great improvement in vehicles.
