Welcome to the club, sorry to see you are having problems. I'm sure someone more technically minded than I will be doing shortly.

One query that needs asking is about Fuel Filter Syndrome. You probably don't know what I'm talking about or whether the fuel filter has the orange clip fitted. But it will be worth checking it all out.

With the symptoms you have described, this will be caused by a broken wire to the MAP sensor on the top on the inlet manifold.

Give each of the four wires a gentle tug where they enter the connector housing, and all will be revealed

I have read about the fuel filter problem, but I think it might be electrical it is a very sharp sudden cut then back then cuts again if I hold the throttle down it sounds like a rally car on the start line

The Fuel Filterr Syndrome may not be involved here, but heed my advice anyway and check if you have the Orange Clip. You'll be glad you did, believe me.

hi thanks for the replys, I have checked the wiring to the map sensor and all of the outer casings are cracked /split but all are still connected I pulled quite hard on the wires but none broke or moved, i am going to check fuel filter tomorrow, it does seem to rev better when really cold but after less than a minute starts to misfire at about 2000 revs

Would also strongly recommend you ask Trikey your nearest T4 guru to give your car a once over with the MG Rover diagnostic tool. He now lives in Northern Suffolk near Beccles.
