99% sure the 75 was awarded caravan towing motor of the year.
CDTI manual, my word, its a wet dream towing them for your average 4 birth. As for your towing weights and such, im not sure, but others will be able to help you gladly.

An old self leveling Diesel Citroen Xantia would be ideal for towing, and cheap to buy..
Using a 75 is like asking a show horse to tow a cart! tsk tsk.. .. Last edited by James.uk; 2nd January 2010 at 20:38.. |

my 2002 cdt tourer tows a bailey ranger 510/4 caravan with ease. In the summer we went to chester and averaged 34 mpg on a 210 mile trip, not bad really considering thats 4 up in car, air con on sat nav going and kids watching dvds. The caravan was loaded up with bikes, tv, microwave, awning and much more. The only thing i have done is fit up rated rear springs. My last tow car was a kia sedona which had a much lager engine but i must say the 75 tows alot better.

I tow a 6 berth twin axle with my diesel tourer, no self leveling rear suspention but it tows very well, my only critisism would be that these cars have quite a tall 1st and reverse, not a problem on level ground but even on the slightest incline you do need a a bit of clutch slip and the clutches do get hot. but once moving these cars make for a very stable tow car.

I tow a large 2 berth, kind with end bathroom, weighs in at 1400kg, and diesel tourer is more than adequate. The only thing you may find is that you have to have a plate which raises up the towball as our cars are quite low to the ground. I didn't have this in the first instance, and the caravan sat at a very very downward angle. Its only a ten minute job for a garage to fix a raising plate on. Economy-wise, the OB computer reads 35+ on a motorway journey. Stability is brilliant, and more than adequate power. The only grouse I have is that with the car being so low, it is not possible to see the rear through the vans rear window.

Tows easy as pie, I forget it is hooked up a lot of the time, especially on Mway. I rented and borrowed a few first to get the feel of what I wanted.
