Default iPad to tv?

I have a friend. With a motor home and the satellite dish has failed. Is it possible to use his iPad with the sky go app to watch sky tv on his I pad and send the signal to his tv as a monitor? The tv has phono inputs and you used to be able to buy an apple lead with phono connections for iPods to send to tv's, anybody know if this works on iPads or done something similar?
Thanks

I use my ipad with a USB and electric adapter that allows to link into to TV no problem. Also use with my iPhone too.

Haven't tried it personally but i'm sure I read somewhere that the sky apps disable the video output.

The Sky app disables any tv output I'm afraid. Other apps work like TV catchup which gives you Freeview but you then need the £99 Apple TV box to AirPlay. AirPlay needs a telly with hdmi connection and of course the iPad would need a net connection.

As everybody says, the Sky Go App disables the tv out function, but instead of getting Airplay, you can buy the tv out lead from Apple for £20 and plug directly into an HDMI port on a tv. Then watch Freeview etc. Probably cheaper and easier to get a new Sky Dish

I never realised about the lead until now I do like the little Apple TV box though but a little expensive

Angry birds on a 42 inch telly is superb
