Just Not Feeling The Love
Having a bit of a battle with my feelings about the current ZT-T....
Probably fuelled by the amount of problems it has given me during my short ownership... In short, I currently take no pleasure from driving it... I am just waiting for the next thing to go wrong all the time... I have laid a lot of cash out on it... HG + Cambelt + Water pump, VVC Manifold, Stainless T Piece and heater matrix. Then Turbo.. Now an Exhaust is required and today a new issue of a petrol aroma that I need to look into.... Factor in the 11 spokes, Full blue LED interior upgrade and Contemporary SE interior and you can probably imagine how much £££'s I have spent... So what do you do when you have laid out that much and have stopped enjoying it The car is running fine now and after I get the exhaust done all will be well, but I just currently feel like its not for me... So what to do... If I could sell it for £1500,00 the I would probably let it go, but what I my chances of that in the current market... I would stand more of a chance getting some cash back by removing all the nice items a practice not preferable by me, but after laying all the cash out, it would be nice to get some back... lol.... I need to give it some serious thought over the next few days, but would like to hear from anyone else who's felt like this and the decision they made...

It's nice to get them perfect, but in the real world? Seeing as you've come so far then hopefully you could enjoy it once the exhaust is fixed. You're thinking 'where does it end?' I don't think it does, it's better the devil you know or take a chance I'm afraid. End of the day, it's down to finances and how much you can afford to lose or spend. So there you have it, these comments are no use to you at all.

Crashed mine very shortly after purchasing (on borrowed money) had to borrow more money to repair it and pay for what I damaged! Then had the stress of getting it repaired, and getting by with no car for 3 weeks, just when starting a new job.
Absolutely hated the car and was planning to keep it for 6 more months and then buy an s60r But it's all fixed, been adding bits I like and almost cleared the debt I got into with it, now my plan is to keep it indefinitely and buy a tf to go with it! |

Know the feeling Pete, when you keep throwing money at a car and wonder if it's worth it and when you should stop.
I stuck with mine but at the end of the day the decision is yours although as they say, sometimes better the devil you know |

got to agree with Jordan... they are just nice cars to live with (once bugs are sorted)...
I would not have a petrol personally, but diesels have their problems too... end of the day they are affordable to buy and maintain, comfy as hell and with a good community behind.. I get the feeling Pete likes the build more than the drive.... so have a nice daily driver, and tinker with a show car on the side...

Stick with it, you know it makes sense really, the next one will need similar work too, at least you know what you have done.

I can only speak from experience Pete, but I have had my 54 plate diesel tourer for a year, and other than the pre-existing faults with needing the fan resistor and a door lock, it hasn't let me down once in 15,000 miles.
Is it that the cdti's are perhaps less hassle day to day and generally the more reliable car for a main daily driver ? |

Thanks for all the comments guy's....
The purchase was always supposed to be a diesel until I was tempted by this one... Having never owned a K Series before I was curious and the extra MPG over the V6's appealed greatly... Truth be told, I wish I had just bought another diesel... They have there issues, but if aware of them then you can minimise risk at purchase and I am pretty confident at DIY'ing them as I have been there before.. lol.. The same could be said of the K series, but my experience is limited on these and I was led up a bit of a garden path on the purchase of this one (That's another story though) I understand the stick with it comments, after all it is the logical choice... At the same time though do a really want to drive around in a car that makes me feel the way that I do currently Not really Chances are that it will be run perfectly for a long time to come after all the work and mods I have done, but its whether or not I can convince myself that's the case!! Oh, did I mention it could do with 4 new tyres as well....
