Default ZT 1.8T Boost Pressure - 7 PSI or 9...???

Trying to bottom out my overboosting issue before expending even more cash on bits... lubricated the actuator arm yesterday and have replaced all controller hoses but still concerned

Have read posts on here that claim the factory setting for boost pressure is 7 PSI, and i have also read posts on here that claim it is 9 PSI... have also read that this more or may not be exceeded naturally in certain circumstances (accelerating up hills etc.)

Anyone care to suggest a definitive answer...??? mine hit 9 PSI today overtaking a truck at 50 mph in 5th... don't fancy really booting it to see where it maxes out! boost reading from Torque and i have checked adjusting it for ambient pressure

often boosts to 8-9psi before tailing off to 6psi.

One of the reasons people swap the solenoid for a better one from an imprezza or similar.

Yeah i saw someone had posted a link to these solenoids the other day, they would appear to be an exact replacement for the OEM ones.

I doubt they would be as good as electronic scooby EBC jobs, but then those are 50 quid, these are 15! And if the old 1.8T only produces 8-9 psi max as standard i expect the scooby versions are overkill unless you are running extra boost.

I thort ignition cut comes in around 13-14 psi, and on standard map it can boost up to around 10 psi to give good mid range but then tails it back to 7 ish?

Yes they are a direct replacement for the Rover item, same part numbers but in a GM box, fitted one to my 1.8 and all is well with it

9 to 6 or 10 to 7, it's somewhere around there with usual age, worn turbo etc etc.
you'll know if you hit boost cut as it feels like you've hit a brick wall

I know what boost cut feels like as mine use to do it on the standard boost control solenoid, and I am sure once I wasn't far off butting the steering wheel lol

It was I who posted and agree completely.

On my misses 1.8t max boost was around 12psi there after the fuel cuts off.
