Default 1.8T misfire almost gone

Today I changed the 3 vacuum hoses with nice blue silicone ones. Whilst the misfire under hard acceleration has almost disappeared, there is still a bit of hesitation. Car performs better now but it would be good to find the last piece of the jigsaw and get rid of it totally?

Is there an ideal gap? I seem to recall there was something on here last year that suggested a better gap than the book says???????

0.75mm seems to be the best compromise

I say 0.65mm. I tried 0.8mm and it missed terribly.

Went on ebay and searched silicone hoses. One of the first to pop up had a choice of lengths and internal diameters as well as colours.

Chose blue, internal diameter of 4mm and had a 2 metre length. Cost was £5.90 inc. P & P. Bargain I thought. Took just a few minutes to fit all 3. Just take off one at a time and fit by pushing each on one. I reckon I still have more than a metre left!

If you increase the bore of the hoses on the turbo, it will not perform as it should. The volume of air being transferred through the pipes is part of the calibration. There's at least one recent thread describing the effect.

My 1.8t was misfiring once, I replaced the two ignition cables and problem went away.
