A dramatic photo of frost on your car Andy Brrrr. I guess your are still working. I have had to postpone going away, as Jessica jarred her back getting out it bed this morning. I spoke to the cow men doing the milking to put some milk aside for Jessica, as the milk will give her a boost whilst she is laid up. Do take care

Greetings all - from a bright, sunny but perishingly cold North Yorkshire. It's days like this when I really appreciate being retired, and NOT having to scrape the windscreen at 6.30am. Neighbours' cars were so white with frost that for a moment I thought it had been snowing.
I'm on "iron investigation" duties today. After ironing a couple of shirts yesterday evening, SWMBO pulled the iron's plug out of the extension lead - FLASH BANG - and a circuit breaker popped.
Everything was fine when the circuit breaker was re-set - but I didn't try the iron again just in case. I'll check the socket on the wall, both ends of the extension lead, and the plug on the iron - not sure I want to get into the inner electrics of the iron itself - if there's a doubt it'll be a dustbin and buy another one jobbie.

Cool

The good news is that my diabetes is in remission. I can now cut my medication down gradually over the next 6 months. Having virtually cut out all dairy products and lost a bit of weight has all contributed to the remission. Happy with that.

And I have a viral stomach bug, apparently it’s doing the rounds down here, now have some antibiotics to take. Should be ok by the weekend.

Thanks for the Good Wishes.

Fixed a few irons for family over the years Rod. All failures were as a result of cable failure where they flex the most near the iron while in use. A known problem as many electrical shops and departments used to sell and still might sell a pre-cut length of ironing flex to rewire an iron with.

I suspect you're right - the iron has a plastic 'sleeve' to protect the cable from that very problem - but it has weakened & snapped over the years, meaning that the cable can be bent at a very sharp angle. Very difficult to buy cable nowadays - the two local stores that used to stock a wide range stopped selling it when all the regulations about qualified persons etc. came into force.
Never mind, it's almost Christmas - so that's SWMBO's prezzie sorted - a new iron
