Cheers Jeff, what are you up to today? Last time the robbers came, they pinched all of the ducks and got into the main house, stealing 2 iPads. Yesterday they got nothing.
Some photos from today: A photo overlooking the forest viewed from the lounge. To the left behind the flowering tree in the long grass, is a track from where they came (I suspect). Behind the tree and bushes is a wall, the baddies could have come over. Behind the wall is a half built abandoned mansion. It’s been like that for the past 2 years, half finished because of a dispute between the builders and the owner. |

Morning all.
Still alive. Had an awful night. Ended up sleeping in the chair, not able to lay down. Managed some porridge this morning. Was supposed to be going to the Trevaskis MGOC breakfast meet. Always another meet another day. Many thanks for the Get Well wishes.

Lousy rainy day here & the job I've been meaning to do will have to wait!
One of the driveway flags is rocking & it needs reseating on a bed of sand & cement but I'm not doing it in this rain. Stuffing! I'm making some sage & onion stuffing to go with yesterdays leftover roast pork joint.

G'day all - it's finally happened, the sun has peeped through the grey cloud, the temperature has gone up by about 4 or 5 degrees - and it's stopped raining.
Just waiting for a sausage buttie for lunch (Shepherds Pie for a teatime meal - no visitors today so we can afford to be idle and eat simply )

Agreed. Sounds like Marley Potts in Wearside ... blimming place went to pot yonks ago. Puts you off emigrating to hear that the grass might not be greener elsewhere. No, I don't live in Marley Potts that went to pot but you don't have to, I reside within a few miles of it and that is more than sufficient.

Thank you Ian, this afternoon we installed trail cameras/CCTV around the property and forest. We think the thieves are local as they seemed to know the lay of the land, where to go with an escape route worked out beforehand. Part of the forest, drops down into a gorge with caves, a stream/river. There are many hiding places. I have been in the caves only once to look for a lost dog and it was scary because of the snakes. It has been quiet on the burglary front here for several years. The last major burglary we had, was when the robbers dressed up as police. They got into the main house, beat up my Mother in law (she couldn't get to her gun in time) and they attempted to behead her during the robbery with a machete. She required several head and neck operations to reconnect. Jessicas Father was dying from cancer at home and he was beaten up as well, he died the following day. A few days later after a tip-off, the robbers were tracked down by city police and shot dead. I am confident we will get the thieves and give them what they deserve. If you look on Youtube, there are many examples of the police operating death squads and executing suspects in public in Nairobi, it is how things are done. Armed robbery is a capital offence. I wonder what would happen if the death squads operated in the UK.

Yes, Allen aka Ratty, lives less than 5 minutes on foot from me. Along with his other half, Val, keep an eye on me. It down to them both that I moved here.
