1.8t Top Coolant Hose.
Hello All
I have sprung a leak on one of my top coolant hoses, it's the one from the 'T' piece to the radiator. There's a silicone hose company near me so I just need to know the bore diameter please? It's number 5 in the diagram Many thanks peeps

I replaced that one and the one from the head to the T-piece (using a short straight and a long 90° elbow. This causes the downpipe to the PRT to be deflected from the vertical so it has to be re-accomodated by removing the holding bracket and making a new bracket. Not an ideal solution, but the silcone pipes are a lot more business-like.

Are the silicon hoses okay with OAT? I read somewhere that they react and you have to specify the rubber lined ones.
I bought a 1m hose (EDPM rubber) from Auto Performance (Ebay) for £6.35. I was half thinking of chopping it up and offering it to other members as the Rimmer hoses are £30. Hoseworld.com also do EDPM in straights, elbows, angles etc.

Most silicone hoses are rubber lined anyway. Autosiliconehoses ones are

Yes, if the cooling system is maintained as set down in the schedules. In poorly maintained, leaky/overheating systems, OAT can plasticise silicone and other synthetic polymers. The majority of popular car manufacturers use OAT these days, so it would be remise of the hose industry not to recognise that. Any off the shelf silicone hose will be fine, but for those who particularly need it (and are prepared to pay) you can get specifically OAT resistant silicone hoses that go beyond the usual fluorosilicone linings. I have standard fluoro lined silicone on my 1.8T and have no qualms whatsoever, but - like choosing your antifreeze - it's your choice.
