When i usually go to the local tip there is always a BMW, Mondeo or Audi in there and my first thought every time is ......... you will never get that over the bar into the skip .

I have made quite a few trunks from these and with black iron fittings look pleasantly aged.
In that case, can I interest you in a large tree trunk we have out side our shop FOC

Our local tip is a real pain! you have to walk miles up and down to put every conceivable material in it's allocated bin.

Yesterday I was about to chuck an electrical item when one of the guards stopped me and asked me to remove it's plug! ... So I fetched some pliers from my car, and chopped the plug off, I then threw the elec item, plus the plug, into the bin. The guard was furious, but he wouldn't go and get it! heh heh

And--- you are NOT allowed to remove anything at all!!..

Beat that.
My late Uncle built himself a three sided garage for his car from ICI pallets - he was a Security Guard on the gatehouse at ICI Billingham many years ago

I plead guilty to the same 'disease'
After 40 + years of smoking pipe tobacco, I've got one garage wall full of shelves with all the old baccy tins - filled with nuts, bolts, screws and everything else I've stripped off u/s household goods, cars w.h.y. Then there's the old kitchen cabinets full of bits from various motor cars - going back to Moggie Minors, 105E Anglias etc.

A little bit of history in every tin. My dad used to do the same and there was always a useful part in a tin as a fix for something. Happy nostalgia
