Post T4 Readings Compensation and Roughness DDE4 Diesel

Had a poorly running M47 and thought would post the results to see if anyone can shed some light.

SWMBO's Freelander with the M47 engine (124,000 miles) had been running rough at idle of late and appeared to be burning oil, if the colour of exhaust was anything to go by.

Hooked up T4 live data on a hot engine (actual highest reading was 82degC thermostat starting to deteriorate IMO) and obtained the initial readings in the table below (orange), which alarmed me to say the least. The idle was a bit jumpy and there was a bit of vibration too. Starting to think injector replacement here and lots of £££'s.

I then thought it might be worth trying Forte diesel treatment before digging deep. After a few miles of a drive trying to maintain high revs. I obtained the second set of results (green), which were a definite improvement, smother at idle and no smoke at start up.

After these first two readings, a day or two later I needed to disconnect the battery for some electrical work, at which point I took the third reading (blue) which have all drastically improved, and the engine is still running smoothly and no blue smoke to be seen.

Of course I'm happy with the end result but have these questions.
Was it the Forte treatment?
Was it just needing a good thrash?
Did the battery disconnect help it too?
Perhaps the thermostat is running on the cooler side and affecting the DDE4 too, however it's not so long ago I replaced, It's a pain to change again in so short a time.

Could this change when removing the battery be down to the fact the ecu knew how "bad" the injectors were, but by adding the cleaner you have restored them, but the ecu was still adapting to the better injectors, but by removing the battery you have reset any adaption saved in the ecu (can't imagine it would instantly adapt as that would lead to instability depending what the injectors are doing.)

All down to the Forte I'd say Gary, it's marvelous stuff, and the only injector treatment I would recommend.

Amazing after seeing what your compensation figures were like on injector number two

Yep I'm thinking along these lines too, however the addition of the additive seems to have made quite a difference as I had expected it to do nothing at all.

That looks very impressive. If I get an injector problem Forte treatment it is.

No adaptions on a diesel

That's a surprising result, most certainly not snake oil!

Always said this about the injectors on our cars a good dose of injector cleaner and a good "Italian tune up are often all that is needed to clear them

As Phil says the DDE 4.0 Ecu on our cars is not adaptive disconnecting the battery doesn't do anything
