Default Irritating flat spot

Hopefully someone will have a clue about this - I have a 1.8 turbo. When I'm accelerating, there is a point at about 3000 rpm when the turbo hits a flat spot until about 3400 rpm. It's most obvious in 4th gear. I had a new turbo last year and it never made a difference. Is this an unfortunate feature of the car? Could remapping cure it? Is it a symptom of something sinister? Whatever, it's damned annoying!

Well its not right whatever it is!

Sounds to be like the boost solenoid needs looking at.

Hmmmm...perhaps a T4 (I've heard this chucked around a lot) would be helpful? Mean time, I'll see if I can source anew solenoid - if its cheap enough, then no harm will come from changing it anyway!

My diesel turbo auto had a flat spot low down (on take off) and that was fixed by a new MAF sensor.... don't know if its a similar setup on the petrol engine.?

Check the plastic pipework to the Turbo as a first port of call.

A quick check of Haynes should tell me that! I'll check when I'm home.Unless anyone on here can clarify.
