Default rear shock top mount removal

I'm inthe process of replacing the rear shock.

first one is out, but the nut at the top won't budge and I was planning on re-using the top mount/bellows etc.

I put a 5mm allen key in the vice, located the shock on the key (yes fully home )
Spanner on the nut and twisted the allen key, now spiral shaped
2nd key, and that is visibly twisting until I stop applying force to the spanner & it returns to origing shape.

I've left it soaking in WD40

Any tips ? appart from get someone else to do it

Put some mole grips on the shaft or trap in vice then undo with socket

Thanks Dave.

I managed to get the nut off by clamping the top washer in the vice and then a 5mm allen key (No. 3) in the hex braced against the vice jaw. Then 15mm spanner. Eldest son sitting on the bench the vice was mounted on.

The nut gave up.

First shock on the car, second now ready to go on, but its raining.Tomorrow's job.
