IMHO the one British institution that still retains integrity and independence above all others is the judiciary.

They even deliver decisions clearly annoy the government of the day immensely.

Hi, just read computer modelling indicates we don’t need Plan B and cases will shortly fall away markedly. Javid says we will have a normal Xmas. So good news, I’m so looking forward to the COVID threat being lifted.

I also believe that the next-gen vaccines will finally overcome Covid *fingers crossed*. It can't be that modern medicine fail to find some truly effective remedy against this virus.

Or a vaccine that has "overcome" flu. I suspect we will have to live with Covid circulating amongst the population and perhaps a booster injection being offered each year as in the case of flu.

They will fall away simply due to the lack of mass media reporting, especially when we become more adept at dealing with it, on a personal level (eg, having a bit of wit if you contract it or knowing someone with it). Think of the numbers of flu reports you read of? Ie you have to go looking for them.

There are other successful treatments for it, and have been for 30 years or so.

I should have put my post in better phrases as you missed what I really was pointing to.

The politicians have been putting unfair pressure on the judiciary recently to not be impartial. The press has also been unhelpful by naming and shaming judges in their front pages.

I was thinking more about the Hale appointment and their presumption to interfere in certain political matters.

Kev

They did not interfere in political matters. What they did was to apply the laws of the land without fear or favour.
