Default Christmas songs

If Christmas is a religious time why are the Christmas songs not very religious? Are religious songs only for Christmas carols?

This thread is about songs not religion.

never heard that one.

I was channel hopping on TV a few weeks ago and caught part of a song.
Found it on Youtube, very religious and nothing to do with Christmas but I really like it. Not because I'm religious as I'm not but because it is just, in my opinion, a good song. I keep going back to it.

All sung by that International singing star, who's name adorns all the bill boards at this time of year.

All the happiness that used to be

Soon I'll find repose
And in dreams, you're always near to me

I'll see you in my dreams
And then I'll hold you in my dreams

Ain't Christmas until I hear "Fairy Tale Of New York" by The Pogues . . . . and not the "sanitised" version either.
