Default which chassis paint

Tried to order chassis paint, 2 out of stock and 1 seller is "on holiday".
I want to avoid por15 as this is on the chassis of the car and por15 needs a fair bit of preparation work.

Which brands are good?
2 Frost chassis paints out of stock
and this seller is on holiday https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Premium-PROTEGA-Car-Truck-Chassis-Paint-Black-Semi-Gloss-Satin-1-Litre/172097545855

looking for a litre but not over £30 if I can avoid it

I've had a day of not being able to order stuff

Hi,

I don't think the Bilt Hamber range will fit your needs as there is quite a bit of prep but maybe worth a look.

https://www.bilthamber.com/corrosion...st-treatments/

Their products are regularly recommended.

Post #5 here is interesting reading:

Good Luck.

Andy.

I have used Under Frame Gloss Block on both my locos as below (everything you see in black):

and aslo painted the underside of my TR4 in 2012 (no underseal applied) and my Rolls in 2019.

I am very pleased with it.

Available from the manufacturers @ www.trwilliamson.co.uk of Ripon in North Yorkshire. BTW its made to a BR specification so is very good quality.

Not that little: weighs 49 tons, designed to haul 1120 tons on the level.

Owner since March 1983 when rescued in derelict condition and with a condemned boiler. Currently in full w/o but not in use due to Covid 19. Locked in a nice cosy engine shed with other locomotives.

BTW diesel weighs in at 113 tons.

Did some more painting of underside of cars yesterday - goes on a treat!

The Shunter ( 08 773 ), there is one of those still in use at the railway sidings to the North of Eastleigh train station. I saw it in action yesterday evening. I used to work on them as an apprentice ( many years ago ).

I was 11 when we moved near Springs Branch depot, I've very likely seen all of these Diesels, the class 50's were quite rare there but they did come at times for work. I remember the class 33's going through the streets in Poole and on the harbour in Weymouth back in the mid 1970's, the Deltics were rarely seen in the North then as were the class 44's, the 37131 attacked me a few years ago before it got scrapped! The branch has had a makeover recently and looks stunning, I'll pop round and take some pictures and post them up.
