Post Opinions about painting brake calipers

I am thinking of painting my break calipers but i dont know which color yet.

Because painting break calipers is mostly done to make the vehicle look more sporty. And in my case i want to look it "classy" not sporty because i think it wont suite my Blue Rover 75.

I am wondering about what you guys think about painting break calipers on a Rover 75. Will it ruin the classy look?

I think coloured paint looks good on the ZTs but not so much on the 75s

Just my opinion of course!

Funny that this thread popped up today I was looking at mine yesterday and they look a little rusty. I think a dollop of black paint may be the way to go, for me anyway

Why not silver as the car was when new from the factory, standard metal colour is how they are sold new.

If you buy a refurbished brake calliper from a motor factors, it will also be silver during the refurbishment process.

I wire brushed mine as well as the rusty bits on the disc and then a light brush with Kurust and then an overspray with Satin Black after making up a simple circular mask.

To be honest it could do with being done again now over a year later as the Satin Black is not hard wearing and suffered a bit in the winter - but they still look far better than they did before. I still have the masks so it would not take that much effort - I even have the part used rattle can on the shelf.

I like the smart looks and the understatement of the Satin Black rather than gloss or a colour.

With Hairpins especially the brake assemblies are very much "on show" so some attention needs to be paid to them IMO - but i do not like the "Boy Racer" image of coloured or even gloss.

Thanks for the replies. Do you guys have any examples (pictures) of your own cars perhaps?

Because i cant imagine black looking good on mine.

This Bentley continental Looks VERY much like a rover 75 from the side and has red break calipers on a "classy" car like this.

What's wrong with red, yellow or gold then?

Not that I have done mine yet, it's on the list of things to do.
