Question First Time Driver, Manual Or Automatic?

i have the dilemma of manual or auto.
of course not having driven properly yet im not sure of the pros and cons.

im taking my lessons and test in a manual but it seems like a lot of work... its not that im lazy at all its just id much prefer to 'enjoy' the car, although it maybe a manual once i get used to it will be more enjoyable, thoughts ??

Despite being a great lover of automatics, I would always recommend learning in a manual unless you really can't cope with it, and need an auto.

Manual every time. Once you start driving for real you will appreciate the more control you have with a manual.

For me not many things come close to that feeling of knowing your about to change up in gear and more power and higher speeds are under your right foot.

Having driven high end autos like Mercs and paddle shift BMW's I always want a full manual experience.

Learn how to drive properly, get some miles under your belt then make an informed decision.

I would always advocate a manual for a spell, having had an auto as a first car, it does take a while to get back into the knack of manuals. Get some experience in a manual, then have autos.

In my humble opinion, a car like a Rover 75 really should be an automatic so that you can relax and enjoy the experience more. Cruise control makes it even more enjoyable. Let the car do the work!

Most mid to large driving schools have manual and auto often in same make/model, why not try a couple of lessons in each, the main benefit being that you'll get expert help and guidance to drive both safely - you can then continue your lessons in whichever one you prefer.
