Default Rover CDI wont start!

We have a problem. Yesterday morning, my other half, tried to start the car. Unfortunatly she could not. It was cold. What she was not aware of not waiting that little while for the yellow coil light to come off before trying to start up. Unfortunatly we have not been able to start it up since! The battery seems fine. I even got the jump leads on to make sure, allas, no joy!
Any body any ideas of how I can get it started again or what might be wrong??

Hi the glow plug light not really a problem with these cars ...never waited yet and had car 5 years. Do you have more than a quarter tank of fuel ...pumps can be problematic but with over a quarter tank should be ok .If low on fuel , top up and try again in first instance...hope this helps.

the little coil light (glow plugs) will not make the slightest difference until -15C so do not worry about them

1 if auto check that the car is in park (P) done it before...
2 check for plenum water!!!
3 listen for In tank pump and under bonnet pump (if fitted) running...

Hello. another common one is the UBP (Under Bonnet Fuel Pump) Its like a fat silver cigar shape to the left of the battery. Try tapping it with a screwdriver, if car fires up then you will eventually need a new one. Those are the simplest causes as with the common faults. Get back to the forum with more details, is it trying to start, just clicking or any other symptoms.

First thing is your intank pump, turn ignition on,so the lights come on the dash, go to filler cap remove it and listen for a humming noise,if you have it itp is ok,then move on to under bonnet pump as Heddy has suggested,it's bolted to the side of the battery box near the back and looks similar to an old ignition coil, has a rubber pipe and electrical connection on top. If thats working, you should feel,it vibrating to the touch,. Following that.plenum chamber as Klarzy says. If all these are ok,then the next thing to check would be crank sensor, but you would need test equipment for that,I think a multimeter would do, but do a search for how to test it,as that is something I cannot advise on.
