what size socket on the top of fuel rail
Hi all, can somebody tell me what size socket is needed for removing those small screws holding down the electrics that goes to the diesel injectors.

It's a female torx can't remember the size, but a small pair of mole grips removes them fine!

There's 2 different sizes, the larger ones you can get with a 5mm socket IIRC

I've just had mine off this week and its a size 3 star socket machine mart have them in stock....hope this helps

Thanks John o, I was hoping the Star socket would have started with a E followed by 2 numbers. I was hoping to get a single socket rather than a set.......... I know what you lot are thinking, tight and *** might come in to it.

That's right e3 is the size as far as I know you can buy them singly

There were 3 different sizes used over the years Col !!
BMW must have lost the plot over time. Plus it's way over engineered just to hold a few cables in place :0

Also 3 different sized fixings for the immobiliser too Russ
