Default Car thefts and OBD-11

This will make you feel better about our cars not beingOBD-11 compliant.

You may have heard of the recent series of car thefts by thieves smashing the car window to gain access to the OBD-II socket. Once accessed, it is a relatively simple matter to program a new key transponder to the ECU and simply drive the car away... bye bye.... from ECUFix.com
One less thing to worry about.

all of the petrols are OBDII and the diesels 2003 / 2004>

There is also a way to kill the ECU by GSM if it is stolen...

I am now stocking moulded OBD-II plugs with 2 metres of lead both in 12V and 24V types. Don't forget that we also have 12V OBD-II sockets complete with a short length of lead too. You may have heard of the recent series of car thefts by thieves smashing the car window to gain access to the OBD-II socket. Numpty at this end.

Not sure what this is. My car is OBD11 compliant, so could you please give a bit more detail of what your sockets do ?

I am not a stockist and I have now amended the thread. I just wanted to highlight a trend.

The thefts are of top of the range BMW & Audis. As much as I love my ZTT I doubt it is high on the list for a professional thief.

They will be soon enough, the clean ones will become targets and they will get taken and made into ringers or broken for spares.

Mine is a 2002 model (off the line in December 2001) and is compliant.

Some CDT's were 2003/4> were but all after are, I think I may be right in saying that if the ECU had been replaced with a compliant replacement that it too will be ODBII???
