Does anyone know the thickness of the lining of new shoes.

The thickness of the lining on a new handbrake shoe is 4mm.

They're only thin linings, but remember they're only used when the car is already stopped, and the handbrake is applied. Theoretically they shouldn't wear, however the linings often 'gloss over' or detach from the backplate, as happened to my first 75.

The reason I asked was a chap in the village had a new set fitted but his old set still had about 3 mm on them.
