Default CDT stalling, failing to start

A friends 51 CDT has a noisey fuel pump under the bonnet, could this be failing and causing the car to stall and have problems starting, it seems like fuel starvation, and the tank is half full to full most of the time.

This does not happen all the time, some days the car runs fine and with no issues.

The in tank pump can be heard running. Fuel filter fitted within the last couple of months.

Sounds like it may be injector leakback as mine had similar symptoms.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Mate I had similar problems and replaced the under bonnet pump and all seems OK now. I swore quite a bit at the faff of removing the battery box to get at the bottom fuel clip. Torx bits were needed.

Have disconnected maf sensor plug for now just to remove that item off the check list, will plug back in when fuel pump gets fitted.
