Default Replacement parking sensor looms – taking orders

Having now subscribed and run my replacement parking sensor loom successfully for the better part of a week I’m looking to start taking orders for replacement looms for those that are interested.

Moderators feel free to move this thread if I've put it in the wrong place.

What do I get?
What you will be getting is a direct plug and play replacement PDC loom with improved soldered joints which are appropriately weatherproofed with adhesive filled heatshrink. You will also be supplied with 6 fir tree zip ties which you can use to secure the loom to the bumper foam inserts In the OE manner.

Saloon vs Tourer
At this stage the loom measurements are based on the tourer loom I have fitted to my car. I believe these will fit to the saloons just fine but I haven’t fitted one to a saloon to confirm this. If anyone would be so kind as to test one for me, I’m happy to send one out free of post to be tested. If the loom is unsuitable in any way, I will need to source a saloon loom to take measurements from which may delay production of saloon looms by however long it takes me to source a saloon loom. I will update this thread if there is going to be delays for this type.

If you’re willing to help me out with this, please post here, or drop me a PM to discuss.

***EDIT: 23/07/2014***

Further compatibility details:
  • Up to 2002 (up to VIN 245553) - Incompatible with the looms I'm producing here due to a different loom to body connector. That said I'm pretty sure I can get the connector to make these too (see post #24).
  • 2002-2004 (VIN 245554-321637) - Tourer is compatible, need to test fit on a saloon to make sure no length alterations are required.
  • 2004 onwards (from VIN 321638) - Appears to be the same as the previous version, however I would want to do a test fit on a saloon and tourer to verify no alterations are required before shipping these.
What it will cost?
As indicated in my other thread regarding these looms, I have had to buy some parts in large minimum order quantities up front at considerable cost to me. Consequently, to help me recover costs and based on the level of interest in the other thread I have priced the looms at £35 including first class P&P.

I’m happy to ship outside the UK, but the following surcharges will apply to cover increased postage costs. Delivery outside the UK will be 5-10 days.
  • Europe = £3.00
  • Rest of World = £6.00
How long will it take to get one?
The first loom took me a couple of hours to assemble, so given the likely initial interest it could take me a month or more to get all the looms built and shipped once I have all the parts in stock. I will be assembling these in what little spare time I have so please be patient with me. I will keep this thread updated as I go.

I plan to do the initial production run as a group by (see below). Once I have the initial group buy out of the way I plan to try and keep some built looms in stock which will make things easier going forwards for people to buy one-offs which will require full payment up-front.

Do I get a warranty?
I will provide a 12 month warranty on all looms I produce which will be effective from the date of shipment. I will operate this on a return and replacement basis to keep things simple.

How do I get one?
To get this up and running I’m going to run this like a group buy for the initial orders. While I have some components in stock already there are some I don’t. These remaining components I will buy in bulk (reducing costs) and therefore I will need an up-front non-refundable deposit of £15 from the initial takers to contribute towards the cost of the parts I need to order in; I’m already quite a bit out of pocket! I will take the balance of payment once looms are built and ready to ship.

Therefore if you want a loom, please start list below and include whether you want one for a tourer or a saloon. Once I have the required level of interest, I’ll drop everyone a PM with my bank details to transfer the deposit. Bank transfer is preferred but I’m happy to discuss other options on a case by case basis.

I will keep this ‘group buy’ open until the end of July which I hope will be enough time to reach the target of at least ten people interested, after which you’ll have to wait for the initial orders to be completed before I can take further orders.

Questions?
If you have any questions, please post them in this thread and I’ll answer as best I can.

In my experience, the tourer and saloon looms are interchangeable. Especially if you are a little generous with the cable length.

This looks like the later loom you have made. The early one has a much larger plug between the bumper and car looms, might be worth making early car owners aware.

Glad to see another member making the effort

That's good to know. But it would still be good if someone could try a loom before I ship looms to people wanting them for a saloon on the assumption that they fit and then have to remake them all.

Is there some age cut off where the change happened so I can add it to the first post as more detail.

List as it currently stands. Please correct me if any of these are wrong.
1. Rovering - Tourer
2. julienhoulton - Tourer
3. championdaddy - Tourer
4. davel22 - Tourer
