I bet in some parts of the world they would be arrested for even complaining.
I travel long distance (all be it internally to the UK) but rarely stay away more than one night at a time and yet I always have a plentiful supply of food and a change or two of clothes (you never know what will happen on the road!), the TV is always kept in the truck and the bed is more comfy than my bed at home so I suspect most of these drivers are self sufficient in that respect. The sticking point for me is wash/toilet facilities and a fresh water supply for drinking, cooking and washing that these guys will be lacking, I would suspect the vast majority all have a laptop with them and if not then chances are they have a smart phone to keep in touch with family and friends. For all those stuck at ex RAF Manston there is a shop and Mcdonalds literally just over the road and like a previous poster said....they will have credit and debit cards.
