It is not only the idiots who drive the cars that hit you. I watched a B*W driven by a woman, hit two cars while reversing out of her parking place in the Asda car park near me. I left her reg number and my phone number plus time it took place on each of the cars involved. Never heard anything about it after.

That's a good point. In that case if I were in your position I would take it to three bodyshops to hear how they would tackle the job and to get estimates. It's difficult to tell from photographs but I'd be surprised if your existing door can't be repaired. I'd expect a new door to be very expensive since, in addition to the purchase price, you'll be paying for it to be prepared and painted in its entirety and all the equipment and trim to be stripped out of the existing and fitted to the new.

The only way to discover your options is to talk to the bodyshops.

When my 75 was hit by a Romanian lorry on the M25, back in August, Esure (my insurance company) wanted to scrap the car. The damage was a front wing scrape, a shallow door dent and some paint loss from the rear bumper.

I challenged their costs and spoke with their Engineer who agreed to provide me with an in-lieu payment, i.e. I can get the car repaired by my own repairer but they don't write it off. A very satisfactory outcome if I may say so.

As above - very reparable with apparently no parts needed. It's possible, just, that the cost of repair might be equal to any insurance payout.

Mandy have a word with Bri, there is a place next to where the Lowcocks factory was in Cannon Park that did a grand job on his BRG 75.

I can't remember the name, but the job they did was brilliant, drop him a PM

you can find him HERE
