Default KV6 timing belt replacement - advice required.

Hi All,

I'm about to bite the bullet and fork out for my v6 timing belts to be changed on my zt-t 190.

I've found a local engineer who I trust to do it.

He is nervous about me supplying the parts for him, it may be because of his margin, but it is what I usually do, and he is usually happy to use the parts I supply, in this case he wants to use his supplier and deal directly with him.

I need some advice on which parts and brands I should specify for him to use, any advice greatly received.

Phil

He's welcome to order directly from us - we supply trade and retail: https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/gro...2eb196d0&_ss=r

There's a choice of our own tensioner, or the INA item too.

Hi Phil,

Having done this job myself, the most important thing is that the proper service tools are used. These are not cheap so make sure that your chosen mechanic intends to obtain them.

If the mileage of your ZT-T is approaching the MGR specified 90,000 then you should renew the tensioner pulley and the idler pulley. The OEM brand of the latter was INA which I see DMGRS can supply.

Whoever's tensioner pulley is used, please note that it is NOT supplied ready-adjusted. Your mechanic will need to follow the INA instructions (available on request). If he doesn't, the belt tension will be incorrect and put the safety of your engine at risk.

Also ask your mechanic to remove the camshaft end caps with great care because it's best to refit them afterwards. He'll have trouble fitting new replacements; access is extremely limited and they're a very tight fit.

Good luck!

Simon
