I've experienced this from an admin point of view for a couple of different clubs.
As soon as you start to introduce sections for other models, your original club becomes diluted and loses it's identity. On the one hand you do have the variety that different models and their owners bring, but on the other you lose that individuality that the club originally started out with. There are two schools of thought usually - expand the club to include other models and therefore increase the membership, or stay one make one model and keep a hardcore of enthusiasts with their expertise. Personally, I'd go for the one make one model approach (and yes I know that a Rover isn't an MG, and a 75 isn't a ZT, but that's splitting hairs) and choose quality of membership and exclusivity than quantity of members with a diluted club.

As Paul, Simon, Colin and Rich have mentioned above, while we are fine with people asking ad-hoc questions about other cars our focus is on the 75 and ZT range.
Other models from Rover and MG are far better served by their dedicated clubs and we will not harm their ability to attract more members by introducing competing forums in here. The likes of the 200/400 Club or the Coupe Owners Club and others (only lack of time prevents me mentioning them all) put in massive amounts of time to help owners out. I would strongly urge anyone with another Rover or MG to join their respective owners club and help them to build their knowledge within that community. |

I would prefer to keep this forum to one set of cars to be honest.
I am active on 4 x forums for my cars and the 2 X single model forums (this one and the MKIV Supra forum) are far far better than the multi car same manufacture forums (Merc and Alfa). The enthusiasts on these are good bit are minimal and the man (sorry person) just asking a question just to save money but giving no input are much more. I suppose we could have a section for technical queries on other makes but that may not get visited as much but forum members. Keep ZT and R75 please

What you are saying is if you haven't got Rover 75 or an MG ZT don't bother joining. I know first hand what this feels like it isn't pleasant, your not welcome because your car isn't old enough! Slightly different but has the same outcome especially when you are on your own like I am. What about RESPECT! Thankfully I belong to the MG Owners Club and they like my car.
