Battery replacement
The time had come to replace the battery in my 2.5 KV6 Tourer.
Ordered a type 096, happy with the price and delivery. My old battery (Exide Premium) had lasted very well and fitted without any problem, the new one (Varta E44) has a much squarer profile on the rear edge and this made it much more difficult to refit the battery box cover. |

What you should do before buying a new replacement battery is measure the actual size. I.E. length x width x depth (Hight). There are some batteries that are slightly taller (Depth). This makes it sometimes impossible to fit the battery cover on the battery. Another thing about removing the cover is that wintertime makes it more brittle, making more breakable. Use a hair dryer for a few minutes to warm the plastic up before trying to remove it.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Plus what are you doing with a hairdryer? I don't own one. To use one I would have to get the 100ft extension lead out.

Lol. I have not got enough hair to use a hair dryer on, but I have used my wife’s hair dryer for various things( not telling you........ or the wife, lol, including warming up the cover on my battery tray. Reason:- change the battery on my cdt75 that had given up the ghost after 11 years, original battery from 2002 until 2013. Fortunately my car was only about10-15 feet from house on the front drive. And by the way, it was replaced by a Bosch battery, 4 year warranty. It is still doing its job 7 years later. Well recommend Bosch batteries.

I don't think that is a good idea with a battery around,

Sorry. The comment about brittleness was an added comment, nothing to do with the size of the battery.

I bought a new battery for my diesel but can't tell you what make it is, can't remember. It was about 4 years ago I think. I do have the receipt along with all the other receipts.
