I'm outvoted, my daughters have just said I'm not to sell the ZT.

I'm most intrigued to learn what Gaz is getting as the replacement, that's if there is even a contender.

Im thinking about it , the constant cleaning of her is wearing me down if i could garage it over the winter then i keep her , battling this constant rain then salt will be going down im sure , ive put alot of work and money into her and its a shame im looking at her out of the window constantly dirty and wet at the mo

I totally understand Gaz, not having a garage and having to leave the old girl out in the rain, especially through the winter months grates on me no end, the constant cleaning really sucks. You feel like getting rid so you don't have the problem, less work = less stress type of thing.

Your ZT Gaz is pristine, looks in far better condition than mine. My old girl is suffering from old paint now, this solar red paint is awful to look after. The roof and boot is fading to pink, and the passenger side front and rear doors have paint blisters smack-bang in the centre (this is the side that always gets full sun).

The bonnet has what looks like small chickenpox (dimples) within the paint, every time I clean the old girl I see more and more paint defects popping up, we are fighting a losing battle it seems Gaz.

Mine is not pristine it always looks good because of the polish i guess , mines the same has small stone chips a little lacquer peel but ive sealed that ,at the end of the day its 18 years old and this country is not kind with the weather we get its just hard work,i spend a day getting it like this then next day looks like ive been rallying

Maybe you could get a decent cover? Mine has marks etc and a tiny patch of mico blisters on the bonnet. I just polish and no one but me seems to notice! Front bumper has lacquer peel so that will have to come off for paint at some point. I just soldier on. The cars are worth it. ☺

What would be the alternative? Surely its better to have a car you love and enjoy, even if it's dirty, than to have something you don't care about and don't enjoy?

Never thought I would see the day, then Dallas comes along and says he was thinking about it as well!!!

Don't do it mate, you will never get one like her back.

Can you buy one of those canvas garages? My brother in law had his P6 in one for years.

Don't do it

I'm going to have to look into that, I've even thought about building a garage, getting planning permission etc.

If I end up buying an old MGB or Midget, something pre-1979, I'm then going to review the situation. I was chatting to a fella this morning who is selling his 1974 MK2 Capri, to say I am tempted in an understatement...
