Default Navall 3 - Boot animation thread

Has anyone changed the boot animation on their NA3?

I have been having a play around this evening and by no means a finished article I came up with this to show the general idea.

Anyone done anything different?

Feel free to post yours below.

Very impressive, just 2 questions:
1: How do you create a graphic like that?
2: How do you change the boot animation?

Tom.

Not particularly difficult, just VERY time consuming! I will write a "How To" eventually if/when perfected.

I have taken the original animation from the Navall 3, examined it to see how it all works, but have yet to write anything back and prove it works yet.

The original, starting graphic, was courtesy of a Facebook group member, who took the shot of his own car parked in his garage when experimenting with the settings on his new camera.
As for how to manipulate the image, I have for many years used a free, open source, program called GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). An outstanding tool for graphics, which is completely free and continuously updated across multiple platforms, GNU/Linux, OS X, Windows and more operating systems.

When I have managed to get everything working 100%, I will make a "How To". It is not that difficult to do, just very time consuming. Especially if you are new to the GIMP software.

I really don't want to get into making graphics for the masses, but will sort a "How To" guide in time. It isn't difficult, just time consuming. Plus, as you will appreciate, there are so many connotations and personal options, tastes and designs, I would be going forever.

Rick, obviously you cannot stop it booting up. There is a pre defined boot sequence, as there is for most devices. However, as I am investigating, there seems the possibility to change the animation you see whilst the NA3 "boots up". If done correctly and pending one's own time and effort making/preparing the graphics, the possibilities are endless.
That said, unfortunately, just like your computer, games console, mobile phone etc, there is always a "boot time". So you will always have to wait, regardless of what you are shown.

The animation does not have to be that. It can be changed to show the same image, multiple times, until the boot sequence has finished and you hit the home screen. But unfortunately, you have to wait.

In the mean time if anyone has a go at this themselves, please feel free to share your efforts.
